I Stopped Making New Year’s Resolutions

Make Things Happen

Yesterday morning, I checked the date and smiled.

A year ago, that moment would’ve come with a twinge of dread. January was almost over, and nearly all of my resolutions had already stalled out. That quiet guilt is exactly why I left New Year’s resolutions behind in 2025.

That doesn’t mean goals aren’t valuable. They are. I just realized mine were not focused enough on processes (daily habits and behaviors), too broad to be useful, and too vague to measure.

So I started breaking them down.

“Get in shape” became a weekly process: four workouts and a commitment to not miss sessions.
“Read more” became thirty minutes of reading every day before I pick up any electronics.
“Be a better leader” became prioritizing “giving goals” through monthly one-on-one meetings with each team member, focused on life beyond Proof Digital, personal wins, and team objectives.

If you glanced at the date recently and felt that same familiar weight, I encourage you to rewire it. January isn’t a deadline; it’s a starting point that’s still wide open.

And if you’re setting goals around your business or your role this year, try the same approach. Build them around processes. Make them measurable. And most importantly, focus on supporting others and cultivating a growth mindset.

This year, I want to finally fix my website.

FSA home page
Your website probably works. But is it working for you?

Last month, we launched a brand-new website for Financial Services Academy (FSA) in partnership with the Indiana Bankers Association, built with clear goals in mind.

The site feels young and modern for students, while staying polished and professional for parents, schools, and banking partners. It is intuitive, scalable, and dynamic, designed to grow with FSA and keep users engaged at every stage.

If converting more leads is a goal this year, a website rebuild could be the right move. This project is a great example of what is possible.

This year, I want to show up in AI overviews.

One of our B2B clients recently landed a major opportunity after being discovered through ChatGPT, and you can too.

What makes the difference? Trust.

AI systems, like Google’s AI overviews, don’t just scan for keywords. They evaluate clarity, credibility, and confidence to determine what content is worth showing.

If increasing your visibility and generating more qualified leads is a goal this year, focusing on trust signals is a smart place to start.

Our latest blog breaks down the trust signals we started implementing in 2025 to set up a successful 2026 with AI. Learn the newest SEO best practices and grab a Trust-Building Checklist you can start implementing today.

This year, I want to become a thought leader in my space.

Building credibility doesn’t require hiring a PR team. If your goal this year is to share more of your expertise, a podcast could be the perfect way to do it.

Have a story, strategy, or industry insight you’re passionate about? The Proof Point Podcast is always looking for smart voices doing interesting work.
