New Year, New AI Strategies
The other day, I asked ChatGPT to help me come up with a “fancy” dinner recipe using only the ingredients I had left in my fridge and pantry. I couldn’t bring myself to go to the store, but I still wanted something tasty and new.
The first recipe it suggested? I’d already made it. The second? Called for seasonings I didn’t have. The third? Far too boring for a Saturday night. I’m not one to give up easily, especially on a tool I’m always exploring. So, I started thinking…what if I really upped the stakes? Some people thrive under pressure, after all.
I told ChatGPT that this dinner was my ticket to survival—that I’d been captured by extraterrestrial enemies on a Star Trek mission and needed to serve them something innovative and delicious to secure my freedom. Now, before you call me nerdy, hear me out.
It worked. By raising the stakes, the chatbot became noticeably more creative, offering detailed instructions and paying closer attention to the ingredients I had.
While the scenario was undeniably dramatic, it reinforced an interesting chatbot prompt tactic. By upping the ante—or, even, providing more situational context—you get better responses. This is a strategy my team frequently uses with AI when we’re brainstorming content ideas and making optimizations. It’s more intricate than it may sound at first, but give it a try the next time you turn to AI for work or fun.
